Evidence-based medicine for older people, geroscience

Main aims

My mission is to develop, deliver and disseminate Evidence-based Medicine for older patients in the hospital to increase quality of life of older patients. This includes research from etiology to implementation and both quantitative and qualitative research.

Methodology

I initiated several studies, who are all multi-centre:

• The Acutely Presenting Older Patient Study (apop.eu): design and implementation of a screening program for older patients in the Emergency Department to improve their outcomes
• The Triage in Ederly Needing Treatment (tentstudie.nl): a care-pathway for older patients who need intense treatment such as surgery or chemotherapy. The study includes geriatric assessment and biomarker research.
• The COVID-OLD study (covidold.nl): studying outcomes of older patients after COVID-19.
