Annelien de Kat et al. published a paper “Late reproduction is associated with extended female survival but not with familial longevity” in Reproductive BioMedicine Online in April 2024!
“They concluded that female reproductive health associates with a longer lifespan, though women from long-lived families do not show extended reproductive health. Other factors in somatic maintenance that support a longer lifespan are likely to have an impact on reproductive health.
They studied 10,255 females from a multigenerational historical cohort the LINKing System for historical family reconstruction (LINKS; https://iisg.nl/hsn/projects/links.html ) and 1,258 females from 651 long-lived families in the Leiden Longevity Study (LLS: https://leidenlangleven.nl/ ); both fantastic resources to study. ”
