On the 12th of June, Yotam Raz (PhD-student, Molecular Epidemiology, LUMC) won the James Joseph Award at the annual conference of the American Aging Association for best PhD-student presentation.

During this meeting in Brooklyn, NY, he demonstrated in his talk titled ‘Mild lifestyle changes lead to skeletal muscle remodeling in older adults’ that a mild improvement in diet and physical activity leads to changes in the muscle composition of a group of healthy elderly individuals. In his research he used RNA-expression profiles of the muscles, combined with novel histological analyses to characterize the muscles’ architecture.
